Healthy Abingdon announces next event

Healthy Abingdon is to hold its next event on Thursday, December 14, focusing on working with the NHS. It follows its recent first event, which centred on working with local government.

The objective of Healthy Abingdon is to promote cooperation amongst all parties in Abingdon to find ways to improve health and wellbeing in the town.

The event  will take place from 5pm to 7pm at the North East Abingdon Community Centre Peachcroft Road, Abingdon, OX14 2QA.There will be an opportunity from 4:30 pm for refreshments and networking.

The purpose of the meeting is for community groups and members of the public to talk directly to people from the NHS to discuss what can be done together and what help is available from the NHS to do this. The organisers have have taken your views from the last meeting and will spend more time in discussion rather than listening to presentations from the NHS.

The main feature of the meeting will be the table discussion session where the community and the NHS will discuss ideas.  Different tables will focus on different topics depending on what of the community groups and members of the public feel are important.  For example, some people may want to discuss dementia while others recreational activities.

You can find a detailed programme for the event on the group's website www.healthyabingdon.org.uk where you will also find a report on the previous event.
